Jarod Henize, 25, Connelly Springs, NC was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado when he exited the eastbound lane, crossing over into the westbound lane — striking Morris Dupree, 53 of Greenville, NC's 2020 Freightliner Cascadia head-on, Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Parker Hoyt detailed in a release.

The collision happened in the 1800 York Road/US Route 30, Straban Township, around 1 a.m. on Feb. 6, Trooper Megan Frazer detailed in an earlier release.

The driver of the pick-up truck died due to the crash, according to Pennsylvania Department of Transportation spokesperson Fritzi Schreffler.

Henize was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash, Trooper Hoyt noted.

The area closed was between Calvary Field Road and Granite Station Road, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation's site 511PA.

At 7:18 a.m. Frazer said the area was still closed in both directions as crews remained on the scene for cleanup.

The jackknifed tractor-trailer spilled its diesel fuel —  approximately 200 gallons, according to Fritzi.

The public was asked to avoid the area.

No other injuries were reported and no charges were filed, according to the PSP report.

Jarod more specifically lived in Granite Falls but was from Taylorsville, NC according to his Facebook profile. He also attended Alexander Central High School and then Spring Grove Area High School from 2015-18.

He is survived by his family and friends, some of whom have already been sharing about their loss on social media. One mourner wrote the following:
